    The Communications Associate is responsible for graphic design, website management, video
    production, and visual brand identity to help Texans Care for Children accomplish its mission of improving
    public policies to support Texas children and families and eliminate racial disparities.
    The ideal candidate will have significant experience with current design software and be skilled within
    every step of the progress from concept to final deliverable. This work will take place in collaboration with
    the Communications Director, the Communications Associate for digital strategy and analytics, and the
    policy and development departments. For highly experienced candidates, there is the possibility that the
    position and job title may be revised to correspond with the level of experience. This is a full-time position
    based in Austin. The Communications Associate may opt to work full time in the office or create a hybrid
    structure of both in-person and remote work, in accordance with office policies.
    Texans Care for Children is a statewide, non-profit, non-partisan, multi-issue children’s advocacy
    organization based in Austin. We develop policy solutions, produce research, and engage Texas
    community leaders to educate policymakers, the media, and the public about what works to improve the
    well-being of Texas children and families.

    ? Create layout and design for a wide range of materials for websites, social media, email, and print
    including: graphics, charts, reports, policy briefs, one-pagers, newsletters, brochures, maps,
    presentations, fundraising materials, and event collateral.
    ? Manage all aspects of the organizations’ multiple websites, from daily updates to envisioning and
    executing longer term improvements. Create or oversee the creation of additional websites, if
    ? Produce in-house short videos for advocacy campaigns and special events and support video
    projects that are completed with outside vendors.
    ? Maintain and organize content files including photos, videos, and other data for storytelling.
    ? Regularly participate in policy team and development team meetings to discuss design needs.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    ? Minimum of 4-5 years experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations.
    ? Experience creating materials that tell stories, shape public debates, and inspire action.
    ? Design experience working with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere,
    or Adobe After Effects.
    ? Familiarity with designing websites and pages in web content management systems. Experience
    coding using HTML, CSS, and/or Javascript within these systems.
    ? Experience with all aspects of creating short, simple videos, including pre-production, production,
    and post-production.
    ? Experience working with email management systems to design and format emails.
    ? Experience working with the Google suite of products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms).
    ? Experience coordinating with outside vendors for printing projects.
