General Statement of Job
The Director of the Asian-American Cultural Center (AACC), to be located at our Northridge Campus, is responsible for the launch of the AACC, including overall program development and coordination of curricular, co-curricular, and community events that support ACC's Asian/Asian-American student population. The Director will work with the Interdisciplinary Studies Department Chair to develop an Asian-American Studies track that will support transfer pathways to area universities. The Director directs and oversees Center operations, student engagement activities, and community events. The Director will report to the Executive Vice Chancellor of Campus Operations and Public Affairs in this role, and will receive a two-course release each Fall and Spring semester to support these duties.
Description of Duties and Tasks
* Works collaboratively with instructional deans and department chairs, faculty, Student Affairs, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer (CDEIO), and Public Affairs personnel to develop, implement, and assess a strategic plan for the AACC.
* Works collaboratively with instructional deans and department chairs, faculty, Student Affairs, CDEIO, and Public Affairs personnel to develop, implement, and evaluate curricula, co-curricular, and community programming for the AACC.
*Works in conjunction with instructional leaders to develop and launch an Asian/Asian-American Studies track in Interdisciplinary Studies. Recruits and retains majors in this new track, supports course development and scheduling for all interested students, and advises/mentors declared majors in Asian/Asian-American Studies.
*Develops, implements, and monitors web presence and social media communication plan for the AACC.
*Works in conjunction with instructional leaders to collaborate with regional university programs in support of seamless transfer of Asian/Asian-American Studies students.
*Oversees the physical space of the Asian-American Cultural Center to ensure student accessibility to the Center's programs.
*Assists in effective marketing and promotion of the Center's programs and events.
*Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates any Center staff, interns, and/or work study students.
* Serves as budget authority for the Asian-American Cultural Center
