    GAACC is looking to fill the positions described in detail below. These positions require knowledge of Asian Pacific American (APA) communities and familiarity with Asian cultures. These are full-time positions that require some evening obligations. Compensation is commensurate with experience and skills. We provide paid time off, full health insurance coverage, mileage reimbursement, flexible work conditions, and growth opportunities while serving the APA community.

  • Communications & Marketing Coordinator

    GAACC is looking for a motivated and outgoing individual to manage our marketing and communications initiatives.

    Currently, our marketing consists of our newsletter and weekly email blasts, websites, social media, targeted partnerships with other APA organizations, press releases, and engagement of mainstream media as appropriate. The coordinator will oversee all of GAACC’s marketing and communication activities, including reviewing all external communications and managing any ad hoc projects and fundraising campaigns.

    GAACC will be undertaking some rebranding and new outreach efforts such as an annual report on the APA community, Asians of Austin story campaign, and an annual organization impact report. The coordinator will manage these projects and all other outward-facing initiatives. 

    The coordinator must have a true desire to serve our members. This requires curiosity to know our members and interest in their needs. Attention to ordinances or policies that affect business and the APA community is also crucial in order to advocate for an environment that supports member success.  

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Communications

    • Create, coordinate and oversee master communications by month schedule, including press releases, emails, website content, and social media channels.

    • Write and publish content for website, email blasts, social media channels, and promotional materials.

    • Work with staff to develop innovative campaigns that promote GAACC programs and events in new ways, engaging current audiences and attracting new followers.

    • Meet target goals for message and post frequency on the website, email, and social media channels with the goal to grow audiences in each channel. Ensure all communications items are executed on time, on-brand, and inconsistent language.

    • Produce communications reports for GAACC leadership and Board as needed.

    Publicity

    • Draft all press releases, collecting and coordinating content from GAACC staff.

    • Serve as GAACC  primary point of contact with third-party vendors on the rebranding project

    • Serve as GAACC's primary point of contact with media trade partners, coordinating incoming and outgoing deliverables. Including researching and contacting new potential media trade partners, negotiating trades, and setting and meeting deadlines.

    Graphic Design

    • Design and execute day-to-day web and social media graphics, 

    • Work with other staff to design graphics and brochures for GAACC programs, events and initiatives

    Leadership and Management

    • Manage communications and social media interns, overseeing their schedules, tasks, and recommendations

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree

    • Excellent communications skills with a strong ability to convey the GAACC brand consistently and effectively across multiple communications channels

    • Two or more years of relevant work experience in communications, publicity, or marketing

    • Ability to think creatively for the digital landscape. Enthusiasm and passion for creating content and generating fun and original marketing campaigns.

    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Attention to detail is critical for this position.

    • Strong technological aptitude. Familiarity with and flexibility across platforms and operating systems expected. Frequently used software include Canva, MailChimp, ChamberMaster, WordPress, and Google Suites.

    • Ability to think creatively to problem solve and promote GAACC and its members and community.

    • Dedication and enthusiasm for fulfilling GAACC’s mission

    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed (not often, and will be notified in advance)
