    GAACC is looking to fill the positions described in detail below. These positions require knowledge of Asian Pacific American (APA) communities and familiarity with Asian cultures. These are full-time positions that require some evening obligations. Compensation is commensurate with experience and skills.   • Events Specialist

    GAACC is looking for a motivated individual to join our team to manage our education programs and our chamber special events. 

    The Events Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing signature chamber events and the GAACC Annual Economic summit. Our current programs include our educational webinars, minority business certification and contracting info sessions (CapMetro, DECA), and other grant requirements. Past event fundraising experience is highly valued, as well as introducing a conference to tie in our signature events (Ovation and Golf). Our events occur both virtual and in-person and the Event Specialist will have the responsibility of managing all events for the organization. In partnership with the CEO and Chief of Staff, the Events Specialist will wrangle the internal and external stakeholders to flawlessly project manage the execution of our flagship, and growing, Annual GAACC Economic summit.

    The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of flawless B2B complex user summit execution, marketing communication, and project management with a strong eye for detail and branding around speaker, sponsor and attendee experiences.

    Our Chamber events provide important opportunities for members to build relationships and knowledge. These include our networking events, new Signature Events, webinars and more. They will also help with establishing a new conference summit which will combine our annual major events; Ovation Gala and Fall Classic golf tournament. The Events Specialist will work with the planning committees on these events.


    1. Plan and execute chamber program initiatives, include referrals, technical assistance
    2. Plan a three-day annual economic development conference that will focus on bringing together local, national, and international businesses for promoting, educating, and combining our other two signature events; Ovation Gala and Golf Tournament.
    3. Plan, execute and host other signature events, and design new ones, such as Asian Restaurant week, Asian Night Market, educational webinars and member and board mixers.
    4. Proactively bring new ideas and improved processes to the team for consideration. Push yourself, and the team in Event Marketing to think differently and produce exceptionally
    5. Collaborate with internal core team members, hold all stakeholders accountable for timely completion of goals
    6. Plan and execute the annual Board Retreat.
    7. Attentive to the value of staying under budget while planning event specifications.
    8. Issuing invoices and collecting payments in a timely manner, and creating comprehensive and readable financial reports. 
    9. Lead and support event planning committees
    10. Engage and maintain good relationships with local, state departments, other community organizations
    11. Negotiating and booking event space for networking and other events
    12. Liaising with all relevant external resources (such as vendors, venue contacts, exhibit companies, etc) in a timely manner to ensure delivery of time critical information and optimal event execution
    13. Provide onsite support during shows and events if necessary
    14. Other as assigned

    Position Requirements: 

    • Bachelor's degree (or 3+ years relevant experience or combination of education and work experience) required
    • 3+ years of event planning experience required
    • Strong communication skills with a positive and energetic attitude
    • A strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to focus under pressure
    • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously
    • Working mode of transportation 
    • Working knowledge of Quickbooks Online, Google Suite and general office equipment preferred. 
    • Ability to lift /carry 30 lbs.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
    • Ability to stand on your feet occasionally for at least 8 hours a day
