Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and details are provided below. To apply please contact Dave Lim who is Director of Western US NTUitive based in San Francisco. NTUitive is an accelerator program run by the Nanyang Techonological University (NTU).
Background of NTU
NTU is one of three public universities in Singapore, and was ranked #2 by the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2016. The university has colleges of Engineering, Business, Science, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences. NTU provides a high-quality global education to about 33,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The student body includes top scholars and international Olympiad medalists from the region and beyond.
The (OEP) Internship aims to let NTU students experience working in an internatinal startup or young company, so that they are inspired to become entrepreneurs themselves. The internships are currently run in the US, UK and China.
NTU will arrange for visa arrangements and coordinate all the logistics required to help the intern settle in. The host company's obligation is to provide an environment that will allow the intern to gain valuable entrepreneurship-related learning experiences while he/she furthers the host company's own business goals.
Coming from a cosmopolitan city like Singapore, NTU students are comfortable living and working in a multi-cultural environment that is prevalent in today’s borderless world. The students that are selected for the internship are among the top students in their class.
The students are from various majors
- Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Materials, Mechanical, Aerospace)
- Art, Design & Media (Digital Animation, Interactive Media, Product Design)
- Sciences (Chemistry, Biological Sciences)
- Accountancy, Business & Finance
- Public Relations and Communications Studies
Benefits for Host Companies
The host company would have a capable intern who is hardworking, learns things quickly and is able to contribute like any employee. The intern is able to converse effortlessly in English and is usually bilingual. Many host companies also view the internship as the start of a journey to expand to Singapore and the Southeast Asia market, a region of 620 million people. With NTU’s vast networks, we can also provide linkages to potential partners that can facilitate your company’s growth in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
