• Korea WEST Intern Program

  • What is the program?

The Korea WEST Plus Program is a joint venture between the U.S. State Department and the South Korean Ministry of Education. The program is designed to give their top students the opportunity to complete an English study program and work in a professional internship. The goals are for the students to gain a greater understanding of American culture and business practices and to foster international relations between the U.S. and South Korea.

The internship lasts up to ten months with start date in mid-March and both paid and unpaid internships can be arranged. Hosting a Korean intern helps employers understand the international market and form strong connections overseas. Employers also gain a highly motivated and eager-to-learn team member, who is bilingual and sometime trilingual.

    How does it work?

Alliance Abroad Group is a J-1 Visa sponsor designated by the State Department and based in Austin. There is no cost for the host employers and all candidates arrive with health insurance. Alliance Abroad Group will help employers find the best match, manage the visa documentation and related paperwork, and provide local support to the interns and employers throughout the program.

There are 50 interns available, all hand-picked by the Ministry of Education. Each is at the top of their class academically, with excellent multilingual language skills and experiences.

How do I apply for an intern?

Applications are accepted from now until January, 2017 and will be managed on a first come, first served basis. Contact Victoria Yen for a list of interns available and to schedule face to face interviews.
