Career & Opportunities Expo

Come out to this free event at Austin Community College's Eastview Campus (3401 Webberville Road) in the Multi-Purpose Room/Auditorium in Building 8500 on Friday September 13, 2013 from 10:00am - 3:00pm. There will be an expo of companies who are looking for qualified minority candidates to fill current openings. There will also be a series of educational workshops for job seekers, entrepreneurs and business owners.


Are you an organization with job openings and looking to diversify your workforce? This is a great event to meet minority job seekers in the Greater Austin area. The event is free and we provide table/chairs as well as lunch. There is room for 50 vendors but it is first come, first serve so send in your completed Vendor Registration Form ASAP to reserve your table. 

Job Seekers

Looking to connect with over 50 hiring organizations? Print copies of your resume and get that suit cleaned. We have already lined up great hiring companies like FreightWatch International, Wells Fargo, Pearson and Hanger. There will also be workshops (see below for details) to help you brush up your interviewing skills and explore other opportunities such as exporting your service skills.


Are you a service enterprise? Have you ever thought about exporting your services? Check out our program as we will be offering a workshop on how to market your services to an international market. Are you getting ready to hire some new employees? Check out our workshop on discrimination in the hiring process to make sure you comply with all EEOC regulations.

Job Search Seminar

Clark Schaffer of Capital Area Workforce Solutions will discuss use of social media such as Indeed and LinkedIn as part of any job search process. He will offer tips on interviewing as well as walk applicants through the process of applying for jobs with the State of Texas.

Exporting Your Service Seminar

There will be a presentation on International Trade Education Series by Natalie Betts, Economic Development Specialist, City of Austin, and an overview of the process by Shawn Levsen, DEC Chairman and International Account Executive for UPS. Then hear how two service companies have managed to successfully export their services: Brenda Hall, President of Bridge360 and Ed Jones, President of EMSI.

Discrimination in Hiring Practices Seminar

This session is valuable to both job seekers and employers. Rodney Klein, Education and Training Manager of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will be presenting. Mr. Klein has been with EEOC since 1992 and has investigated individual complaints of discrimination along with large class cases. Make sure your company is complying with federal laws and educate yourself on the complaint discrimination process.
